Martha Stewart recently introduced her very own CBD line. (Apparently Snoop Dogg introduced her to the benefits of CBD in 2015.)
In an interview with the New York Times, Martha Stewart shared that she uses 20 gummies a day. And we need to talk about this.
Listen, we’re huge CBD advocates over here. We were thrilled at the passing of the Farm Bill in 2018 because that got us one step closer to legalizing cannabis. CBD is non-psychoactive, anti-bacterial, anti-fungal, and anti-viral. It’s as close to a “miracle drug” as you’re going to find.
CBD isn’t without flaws. It can cause diarrhea, drowsiness, or fatigue in some people according to the Mayo Clinic.
CBD is also not regulated, and here’s where the real risk comes in.
CBD from hemp is legal in all 50 states. THC is not. THC will get you high. CBD will not.
Since CBD isn’t regulated, companies can put whatever they want into a product, slap a CBD label on it, and sell it. This is risky. It’s a trust issue. And it’s one we really hope gets sorted out sooner rather than later. If you’re ready to try CBD, look for products that are independently tested and verified.
(You can trust Holden Farms CBD because all our products are independently tested and verified by multiple sources.)
So Martha Stewart taking 20 gummies a day…. Is this ok?
It really depends. It’s nearly impossible to overdose on CBD, so the many (many) milligrams of CBD she is consuming with gummies won’t get her high. But getting high isn’t the only thing to worry about.
The biggest risk in Martha Stewart taking that many gummies is all the side effects mentioned by the Mayo Clinic.
Do we recommend this many gummies? No. Not at all.
You’ll always see the same dosing advice around here: start small and work your way up. If you find yourself needing more CBD to get relief, consider the same dose of a higher concentration rather than a larger dose of a low concentration.
For example, if you’ve been using our 350 Tincture and it’s just not cutting it, rather than bumping up the dose, try the same dose with our 700 Tincture. You’re less likely to experience side effects this way.
And if your CBD is getting you high, you’re not actually consuming CBD. Try a different brand before writing off CBD.
