CBD is everywhere.

It’s in your coffee, it’s in peanut butter, and it’s in gummies.

If you’ve spent any time at all on our website, you know we’re big fans of CBD too.

So what is CBD, and why can’t people stop talking about it?

What is CBD?

CBD, or cannabidiol, is one of several cannabinoid acids found in the cannabis plant. The acids include:

  • CBGA (Cannabigerolic acid)
  • THCA (Δ9-tetrahydrocannabinolic acid)
  • CBDA (Cannabidiolic acid)
  • CBCA (Cannabichromenenic acid)
  • CBGVA (Cannabigerovarinic acid)
  • THCVA (Tetrahydrocanabivarinic acid)
  • CBDVA (Cannabidivarinic acid)
  • CBCVA (Cannabichromevarinic acid)

THCA and CBDA are the most common, though the amount depends on the strain of cannabis. Source

Each of these acids must be heated to produce consumer compounds. (This is why smoking cannabis is so popular: heat + THCA = THC)

Why is hemp such a big deal?

THC is the only strain of cannabinoid acid that will produce a “high” effect. Marijuana describes strains of cannabis with higher amounts (more than 0.3%) of THC, while hemp is a term that describes cannabis plants with low (0.3% or less) THC.

In short: Marijuana will get you high. Hemp won’t.

So how can hemp CBD help me?

Since cannabis has been illegal for so long, there aren’t enough studies to show solid scientific evidence of CBD benefits, but the anecdotal evidence is increasing rapidly and convincigly.

CBD can help with anxiety.

CBD can help cancer treatments.

CBD can help with inflammation.

CBD can help with sciatica.

CBD can even help our precious pets.

I’m curious about CBD… Where should I start?

If you’re the eating-type, we love the chocolate bars. It’s a great way to dip your toes in the CBD water.

If you’re a little hesitant to ingest CBD, try the body butter! It’s a great way to familiarize yourself with CBD.
